Man oh man did I have a busy week! Primarily because I was planning the birthday party of two of my children. My daughter turned 2yrs on April 30, and my son turned 4yrs today (May 16). I figured it would be easier and more efficient to celebrate the two birthdays together - and for the most part, I think I was right. But, it was a lot of work
One of the difficult things was trying to plan the day that would fit everyone's schedule (and I guess this is difficult regardless of if it is for one birthday or not). I would find a day that seemed perfect only to find that for a couple people it didn't work. Then I would find a day that would work for those, only to find it didn't work for others, and this happened more than I would have liked. I ended up just planning the day that worked for the most people, and had to miss out on the company of a few. And so we had a cowboy cowgirl themed party on Friday.
I guess the real highlight was the reactions from my children at present time. It seems so often that when me and my husbands buy gifts for whatever holidays/birthdays come throughout the year; we don't anticipate a huge focus on the gifts - we don't want our kids to be always hungry for what they can get, and to be thankful for any gift from anyone, so we try to make the presents secondary. But this year - we got frantic screams of hysteria. My husband said it reminded him of the old videos of teenage girls when music groups would come to a town. It really caught us off guard.
And at the end of the day - I was reminded of the verse "Children are a heritage of the Lord" Thank You God for my kids!

How fun! They look like they are having a blast.
We had a barnyard theme party Saturday (http://mudandsunshine.blogspot.com/2010/05/barnyard-of-first-birthday-fun.html). My little boy's birthday is also May 16. You're smart to combine them! My sister-in-law does that for two of her little ones born in the same month with great success :-).
Your stories are great and so well written! You put the love of God in each post. Your party looks great, very smart having a 2-for-1 party!
Your kids are so cute! My new nephew was just born on the 16th and my friend's little girl is the 16th and I think she just turned 4 as well! Popular b.day for cute children - LOL
